Alpha Gamma Rho is excited to announce the selection of five new Collegiate Advisory Council (CAC) members, and two who will be continuing their roles for one more year. The seven members will work alongside AGR’s National Leaders, serving 2-year terms, to help coordinate efforts of the National Fraternity between collegiates and alumni while serving as ambassadors for the Fraternity.
Brother Gabe Smoak from Alpha Gamma Chapter (Florida) will represent Region one, which is the East Coast and will be the CAC Chairman. Gabe is a senior studying agricultural economics. He is part of the Collegiate Farm Bureau and an Ambassador for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Council. Gabe is also the Noble Ruler of Alpha Gamma Chapter in 2021.
Brother Ty Herzog from Alpha Delta Chapter (Montana State) will serve as the Vice Chairman and an At Large member. Ty is the VNR-Recruitment for Alpha Delta Chapter. He was also an IFC (Interfraternity Council) Representative for a year and is a member of the Collegiate Stockgrowers Association at Montana State. This summer, Ty is working as an intern at Alpine Surveying and Engineering in Boseman, Montana for his degree in Construction Engineering/Technology.
Brother Cael Alderete from Alpha Lambda Chapter (New Mexico State) is the CAC member representing Region four, which covers primarily the west. Cael is a senior studying animal science. He was VNR-Planning in 2020, VNR-Recruitment in 2022 and is currently the Noble Ruler at Alpha Lambda Chapter. Cael is the Secretary for the Collegiate FFA club at New Mexico State, as well as the Treasurer for the Pre-Vet club. He is involved in IFC as the Executive Vice-President.
Brother Austin Gilliard from Nu Chapter (North Carolina State) is the other returning CAC member, also transitioning into an At Large role. Austin was VNR-Alumni Relations in 2019 for Nu Chapter. In 2020, he was the Chairman of the Dean’s Student Council, as well as an Ambassador for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Austin graduated in 2021 with a major in agribusiness. He is currently studying law at Campbell Law School in Raleigh, NC. Austin hopes to practice real estate law, estate planning and agriculture law.
Brother Jake Hlas from Eta Chapter (Iowa State) is a 2021 graduate. He is a returning CAC member, transitioning into an At Large position. Jake is currently working for Merck Animal Health as a Cattle Territory Representative in Central Illinois. As a collegiate, Jake was the Social Media Chairman in 2017, Assistant VNR-Planning in 2018 and was the Civic Engagement Chairman that year, as well as an IFC Delegate in 2019. Jake also held a variety of leadership roles including College and Agriculture and Life Science Ambassador, Iowa State Collegiate Cattleman Public Relations Executive Officer, as well as many other agriculture and non-agriculture related positions.
Brother Logan Leen from Tau Chapter (Michigan State) is the CAC member for Region two, covering a majority of the Midwest. Logan, a senior studying Agribusiness Management, was VNR-Recruitment in 2020, VNR-Activities in 2021 and served as the VNR-Alumni Relations in 2022. He has also served on the Beef Preview Committee for their cattle shows for the past three years. Logan has completed an internship with Tri-County Equipment, a John Deere and steel equipment dealer and will be starting an internship with ADM as a Grain Merchandizing and Origination intern.
Brother Justin Nichols from Gamma Delta Chapter (ABAC) is representing Region three, which consists of midwest and southern states. Justin was the VNR-Alumni Relations and VNR-Activities in 2021 for Gamma Delta Chapter. He was also a School of Agriculture and Natural Resources Leader and a Greek Council President. Justin is a senior studying agricultural education/communications and social sciences.
