Brother Thomas Perrin and Brother Kurt Schneider of Kappa Chapter (Nebraska-Lincoln) were both elected to serve as officers on the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) Student Advisory Board. Brother Perrin will serve as the vice president and Brother Schneider will be the treasurer. 

Brother Tagen Decker of Gamma Eta Chapter (SUNY-Cobleskill) completed his internship with Western New York Energy, LLC, a locally owned company dedicated to developing the potential of Western New York’s renewable energy resources. Brother Decker will begin a full-time position as an Energy Center Operator assisting in the production of ethanol.

Brother Gerald Salzman was a recipient of Western Illinois University’s 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award during the Spring Commencement ceremony May 10.

Brother Gerald ‘Gerry’ Salzman of Alpha Tau Chapter (Western Illinois) was the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award from Western Illinois University. During the commencement ceremony May 10, he was presented with the award for his dedication to professionalism, continued service to the university and his local communities. 

Brother Salzman graduated from Western Illinois in 1971 in agriculture economics and is the leading principal at GES International, LLC, where he worked with farm equipment and services. He retired in 2014 after 42 years with International Harvester and Case IH. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1971 to 1977. 

He also held several positions with the Board of Directors of the U.S. Grain Council and on the Alpha Gamma Rho Educational Foundation from 2014 to 2020. Brother Salzman was named a Brother of the Century in 2004 among other various awards won throughout the years. 

Brother Randall Thomas of Psi Chapter (Maine) recently retired from the Maine Department of Corrections after 37 years. The last 15 years he spent as the Farm Manager of the Bolduc Correctional Facility. This space produces vegetable crops and livestock for consumption for the incarcerated population. Many of the jobs include composting food waste, cutting firewood for state park campgrounds and rehabilitation of livestock confiscated by the state animal welfare program.

Brother Craig Anderson of Alpha Psi Chapter (Wisconsin-River Falls) was appointed as the Agriculture Alumni Seed Improvement Association Inc.’s (Ag Alumni Seed) Chief Executive Officer. Brother Anderson brings with him more than 35 years of experience in the seed industry. In his new position, he will oversee the growth of the organization and provide guidance as the association moves forward.

Brother Cody Cornell of Alpha Tau Chapter (Western Illinois) was appointed to be a Policy Advisor for the Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. Brother Cornell is 22 years old and a recent graduate. In an Instagram post, Brother Cornell thanked his family and friends for their support.

Theta Chapter (Missouri) received four awards from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the university. The chapter received the Chapter of Excellence award, the Excellence in Organizational Development award, the Excellence in Health, Safety and Wellness Award, and the Academic Achievement award. The chapter also made the top five fraternities on campus.

Brother Gus Hasbargen of Lambda Chapter (Minnesota) graduated with a degree in Agricultural Communication and Marketing. He will soon begin a position in Washington D.C., working for Senator John Hoeven. 

While at the collegiate chapter, Brother Hasbargen was VNR-Recruitment and Food House Manager. He was also involved in Ag Business Club, Agricultural Education, Communication and Marketing Club (AECM), and Gopher Crops and Soils. 

Brother Gus Hasbargen will begin a position with North Dakota Senator John Hoeven, former governor of North Dakota.
Brother Brayden Peter grew up showing pigs with his family and is employed at the university’s Swine Center.

Brother Brayden Peter of Beta Gamma Chapter (Wisconsin-Platteville) will begin his summer internship with the Wisconsin Pork Association (WPA) June 2. Brother Peter is pursuing a dual degree in Animal Science and Agricultural Business. During his internship, he will serve as the youth representative of the WPA. He will assist with key events such as the Pork Schoppe and the Hall of Fame at the Wisconsin State Fair. Brother Peter will also get to promote producer programming and work on enhanced youth outreach. 

He will have the opportunity to shadow professionals of the pork industry and develop a special project.
