After receiving his master’s degree in Food Chemistry and Business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Bill Hantke traveled and worked in Australia, before eventually settling in Northern California where he lived for 32 years. He worked with several packaging machinery sales companies before establishing a machinery and engineering business which he sold after 20 years. Upon retirement in California in 2000, he and his wife, Leslie, felt a gentle tug to move back to Wisconsin to be closer to family and old time friends where they currently live in Madison.
Hantke is also the AGR-UW Madison Alumni Corporation Secretary/Treasurer, a member of the UW Chancellor’s Commission on Fraternities and Sororities, serves on the UW–Madison Friends of the Arboretum Board, is a member of the Arboretum Neighborhood Association Board and volunteers on the Red Cross Disaster Action Team. Retirement and a little free time have allowed him to pursue his hobbies-running, bicycling, family genealogy and travel.
